Teachers don't get the appreciation that they deserve. We wanted to acknowledge one of the teachers at Highline High School that make school a better place for students. Mr. Ruby teaches AP World History, Civics, and AVID. Mr.Ruby has been at Highline High School for four years but he's been with the district for six years.
To get to know more about the teachers at Highline, we asked some questions about his life. Some of his hobbies are puzzles, traveling and reading. One fun fact about him is that he lived in India.
Mr. Ruby was not always a teacher. He said,“It was a career change for me because I was burned out from what I was doing before. I get a charge out of working with young people.” When asked about this experience at Highline Mr. Ruby says, “My experience at Highline is amazing. I’ve really enjoyed building my own knowledge and helping students build their confidence. Do it if you love the youth. It can be really fun.We need more teachers of color that reflect the diversity of out students.Be passionate about what you teach. It's not for money, it’s for the relationships.”
Thank you to all the teachers at Highline who work hard to make this a safe and welcoming space.
