Goals and Expectations for Second Semester
Marilyn Bertrand and Alondra Soledad-Carreon

As we all know, the first semester ended. Most of us struggled this semester because of the move to a new school site. We wanted to interview a couple of teachers to ask them about how their first semester went, what their goals are for second semester and what they expect from their students at Highline during second semester.

Photography teacher, Ms. Umberger, said, “With our new Graphic Design class, I hope to have the students produce work that will be able to live on the walls and portables here on campus to add color to the grounds. Our new printer will allow us to print large posters, vinyl banners, window decals, stickers, t-shirts and so much more. With this, our goal is to add color with a purpose to the campus!” She says, “By the end of the (second) semester, I would like to have my graphic design class create a vinyl poster for each of the portables that has icons for the classrooms, teachers and classes along with a map of the school that is colorful and useful for new students next year!”

Science teacher, Mr Ruppert, said, “Good first semester. My English Language Learners [ELL] Life Science class was too big, so it was a bit difficult but still a lot of fun.” He followed with,“I want to give more homework, tests, and quizzes. Actually, I think we'll have a test at least three days each week.” Something he enjoyed during the first semester was, “getting to know my students.” His expectation for the second semester is, “Lots of tests and homework!!!”

This second semester we hope that you all work hard and try your best and excel in every task that is put in front of you. Hope you had a good first semester. We wish you all the best for the second semester!
