2A SPSL Girls Wrestling Meet Recap

Highline Wrestling Team

On Thursday, January 09, 2020 the girl’s second wrestling 2A SPSL meet was hosted by Highline at Highline High School. Teams from Eatonville, White River, Henry Foss, Renton, Linbergh, Orting, Fife, Steilacoom and Highline wrestled to be the best. The meet lasted for two and a half hours due to only having one referee and one mat. The night was a success for most wrestlers.

Throughout the meet, you will see reckless and well technique wrestlers. The Highline wrestlers had a good meet. They showed what the Pirates can do out on the mat. Everytime time there was a Pirate wrestling on the mat, all you could hear was the team screaming for their teammate. Encouraging and supporting each and everyone of our wrestlers. Wrestling is such an intense sport.

Valery Resendiz eager to take her opponent down.

Some highlights from the meet are the wins from Gladys, Jerica, and Sanida’s match. Gladys and Sanida pinned their opponent and Jerica won with scoring more points over her opponent. All the wrestlers put their sweat, tears, and blood out on the court. Valery Resendiz and Candy Garcia fought hard through their matches; showing integrity and love for the sport.
