On Wednesday, February 5, all tenth grade students went on a field trip to many different career sites. The sites were:UW college of the Environment, UW School of Medicine, UW School of Law, King County Wastewater Treatment Center, Ignite - Microsoft visitor’s center, Bloodworks Northwest, Starbucks support center, Renton Tech, Port of Seattle. Each tenth grade student chose where they wanted to go. I interviewed some students that went to the Starbucks support center and I asked them what were their favorite and least favorite parts about the Starbucks support center.
Stephanie Sosa says, “My favorite part was when one of the workers let us grab a snack and let us get a sample of a new drink. But I wish they had us doing more activities because we didn’t do much besides getting the coffee sample do like two small activities, and walk around some offices and just sit and listen to some workers talk about their life.”
Josh Hunt, responds, “I think my favorite part was when we did a little tour of the Starbucks building, and got a sample of some coffee. Another thing that was pretty cool was being able to see the workshop and see how fast the baristas work .Overal,l I don't think it was bad at all.”
This field trip was a good way of showing the sophomores some possible careers that they might want to take in the future. I recommend these future sophomores to go on these kinds of trips. These trips can be inspiring to some students because they can always be interested in doing one of those careers.
