Trimester Schedule Change
Students have more opportunities to explore their interests outside of required courses in preparation for college and/or career, including the arts, career/technical education and physical education (PE).
Students will have more credit-earning opportunities to meet the state’s new, more demanding graduation requirements.
Starting with the class of 2021, Washington State students are required to earn a minimum of 24 credits to graduate. The new Career- and College-Ready Graduation Requirements are known as Core 24. (If you plan to graduate before 2021, check out your graduation requirements.)
A committee of staff, parents and district leaders completed a two-year process of researching school schedule options and gathering feedback from staff, students and families. After careful consideration, the trimester system was selected as the best option.
This change affects students attending Evergreen, Highline, Mount Rainier, Raisbeck Aviation, and Tyee High Schools.
Families will have the opportunity to provide input online and in-person.
An online conversation will launch March 1 and be open until March 31. We will share the link on Friday through email and social media.
Join us for a series of community meetings across our district. Families will learn more about the trimester schedule and provide feedback on course offerings.
All meetings will be from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m.
