Signs of Suicide (SOS) Lessons
Rationale: According to the CDC, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for teens. Through participation in the Signs of Suicide lessons, students are trained to recognize the warning signs for individuals who may be contemplating suicide and are empowered to respond, using the ACT (Acknowledge-Care-Tell) steps, to help connect
those experiencing distress to critical and potentially life-saving support.
Who participated?
- 263 9th grade and ML students
- 168 10th grade students
- 253 11th and 12th grade students
Pre/Post- Survey Results: “I know how to respond to someone who is
showing signs of suicide or telling me they are considering suicide.”
